Sunday Best

Russ didn't have to work, so we decided it was high time we went to church. We geared up in our 'Sunday Best' and headed to church, with a surprise stop at the club for lunch. What a great way to spend the day as a family...together!

All the King's Horses and All the King's Men....

It was a beautiful Sunday morning...and not necessarily the weather, but Russ didn't have to work, the girls were giddy and the house was full of giggles. We ate breakfast, played for a bit, then started to get ready for church. Once the girls were ready, Russ decided to take them down stairs so I could finish up uninterrupted. Seconds later, I heard a horrific sound---like the house was falling apart. Turns out, it was Olivia---she was on the landing of the steps and slipped and fell down the remaining 11 stairs while Russ tucked into the bathroom to blow his nose. My heart stopped and I think I skipped about 9 stairs on my way down to her! Russ grabbed her, but she was doing one of those 'crying without making any noise' kinda cries. I was terrified. In the 3.5 seconds that passed (which seemed more like 15 minutes) I thought about every possible scenario that could have played out. Was she okay, was she paralyzed, was Russ too hasty in picking her up, did she have broken bones...I couldn't help to think what ever it was, it was all my fault. She finally started to cry--and I mean C R Y...big tears and began to call out 'mamma'. I could breathe again, if only for a moment! She instantly had a knot on her head and of course was very clingy, but she was fine!

Shortly after the fall--but still ready to go to church!
Looking a bit dazed and confused, sporting her shiny goose egg.

"Wha' chu lookin' at?"
Cheese!
Lexie was so worried about her sister after the fall---but quickly forgot all about it once she was able to go to church and "see her friends". Once back at home she was fixated on her puzzles!
She sure does love her puzzles!!!!

Rough Day

We've all had them...rough days that is. It is especially hard when your littlest little one can't seem to avoid them! OUCH!

Olivia sporting a pretty nasty shiner! The pictures do not do it justice!

Half a smile...after getting a kiss from Daddy!

Bionic Woman???

Thanks to the GREAT staff at Nova Care, my shoulder is really REALLY starting to feel better!! The ultrasounds, stim, stretching and strengthening is really paying off!!! My favorite though is my "bionic band-aid"...I don't know what it is really called...that is just the name I give it!!!

It is the coolest thing ever! There is a positive and negative side on the bandage and they place medicine on the pads which is then electronically driven into my tissue. (Iontophoresis--according to Russ) I like my name better--bionic band aid! :)

Ooops we did it again!!!!

What started out as a beautiful day, ended with yet another accident! I will set the scene for you...
This morning we got up, got dressed and headed to the park because it looked so nice outside. I should stress looked...while there wasn't a cloud in the sky, it was only 34 degrees, and wouldn't you know, by the time we got to the park, the wind picked up. We were only there for about 5 minutes and I could tell that was 5 minutes too long. We loaded back into the car and headed for the house.
Lexie seemed much more content reading the new Dora book Granny sent her in the mail today. (THANKS GRAN!)

After eating lunch and taking a nap, Lexie seemed a bit stir crazy and since it had warmed up outside, we decided to go for a walk down to our neighbors. While Lexie was asleep I decided to make some cookies to thank Regis for picking up some fertilizer for us. (A return to the scene of her last accident...) On our way down the street...Lexie decided she didn't need to hold my hand, started to run..(can you see where I am going with this...) got going too fast, and yep, you guessed it...took a nasty fall. Does anyone have a bubble I can put her in for about the next 15 years???

As you can see, she hit her forehead in almost the exact same spot as last time. (At least she has consistency in her favor)

All joking aside, she is already starting to feel better...I however, lost another 5 years off my life!

The morning after...

Here is our patient the morning after the big fall....

...she is making a fine recovery! Now, if I could just get my hands on one of those bubbles, we would all be in great shape!!!

Easter in March???

Easter came early for Lexie...in the form of a GOOSE egg!!! While we were out for a walk...taking advantage of the above freezing temp, we stopped to visit with our neighbor Regis who was out working in his garage. She was having a great time, until...she ran across the driveway (part of the concrete had settled and sank leaving a slight drop off) and fell flat on her face. The noise her head made when it hit the concrete is still echoing in my head...making me sick thinking about it! She INSTANTLY began to cry and all three of us ran to pick her up. Russ was the first to reach her and Rege and I went inside to get some ice and a towel to clean her up. She scuffed up her forehead, upper lip, and had a bloody nose! It is a good think she fell the way she did according to Russ, otherwise, we may have been back to the ER for more stitches!!!

We got Lexie home, gave her some milk and cookies and let her watch a special hour long Dora the Explorer...

All cleaned up after dinner and back to her self!!!

Poor Russ can't catch a break! First it was me yesterday with my injury...then he had to cover his own shift and half of a co-worker's last night, then he had to doctor up Lexie today...all before he had to pull another shift and a half again tonight! (Should I mention he has to pull double duty this weekend between the military and the ER???? Don't feel too badly though, he is off 4 days next week with his friends to go to the Big East Basketball Tournament in NYC...a much deserved mini-vacation!)

Sew now what?

****Warning****Photos may not be suitable for weak stomachs*******

I think Russ was feeling a little left out while Granny and I were working on all of our sewing projects. We often solicited his help, but he informed us that "he doesn't sew". He was very helpful when it came time to mount the finished projects!!!

The other night I was faced with quite a dilemma while trying to fix dinner. I was cutting frozen chicken, it slipped, and I ended up cutting my finger...though I didn't know it until I turned around and saw blood EVERYWHERE!!! Luckily, Russ was home and was able to help me clean up the mess and the cut and keep Lexie out of both. He promptly said to Lexie, "looks like you are making a trip to the ER so Daddy can stitch up Mommy's boo-boo." I asked him who else would be working since, "he didn't sew". I don't think he found the humor in it like I did!!!

Here are before and after pictures of Russ's handy work. Unfortunately, Russ thinks I may have nicked the nerve since I still don't have feeling in the tip of my pinky!!!

Thankfully, this picture doesn't show all the tissue that was seeping out of the cut!

I think the nurse may have gone a bit overboard with the gauze!!!

And Russ said he doesn't sew...
