Trick--ER Treat

Since Russ has been working quite a few 7a-7p shifts lately, he hasn't been able to see much of the girls. On this particular day, he had to leave the ER when his shift was over and head straight to the football field to cover a high school game---soooooo, he wasn't going to get to see the girls at all. I decided we would surprise Russ (and the other ER staffers) with a few tasty treats! I baked a few dozen cookies, dressed the girls in their Halloween outfits (yes, I am trying to get as much use out of them as I can) and we headed off to dish out some treats!

Surprising Daddy at the ER is fun!
Needless to say, the 'treats' went over well--oh, and they liked the cookies we brought too

Sew now what?

****Warning****Photos may not be suitable for weak stomachs*******

I think Russ was feeling a little left out while Granny and I were working on all of our sewing projects. We often solicited his help, but he informed us that "he doesn't sew". He was very helpful when it came time to mount the finished projects!!!

The other night I was faced with quite a dilemma while trying to fix dinner. I was cutting frozen chicken, it slipped, and I ended up cutting my finger...though I didn't know it until I turned around and saw blood EVERYWHERE!!! Luckily, Russ was home and was able to help me clean up the mess and the cut and keep Lexie out of both. He promptly said to Lexie, "looks like you are making a trip to the ER so Daddy can stitch up Mommy's boo-boo." I asked him who else would be working since, "he didn't sew". I don't think he found the humor in it like I did!!!

Here are before and after pictures of Russ's handy work. Unfortunately, Russ thinks I may have nicked the nerve since I still don't have feeling in the tip of my pinky!!!

Thankfully, this picture doesn't show all the tissue that was seeping out of the cut!

I think the nurse may have gone a bit overboard with the gauze!!!

And Russ said he doesn't sew...

Happy New Year!

Since Russ had to work New Year's Eve AND New Year's Day, we couldn't really do much to bring in 2009! We didn't even get to watch the ball drop together! Russ had to work until midnight, then had to be back in at 7AM...so, he ended up staying at the hospital that night.

So in order to make the best of it, Lexie and I decided to help the ER staff celebrate and bring in the new year! Since they were stuck working NYE, we thought we would take them some tasty treats so they could have a little "party" of their own! She had a great time delivering food and putting on a show for all of her daddy's co-workers! She even managed to stay awake for the trip home, but was fast asleep before 2009 was here!
