Suessical The Musical

The big day had come and Lexie was soooo sooo soooooo excited! She was scheduled to go on a field trip with her class to see Seussical The Musical! Though she didn't really know what it was, she just knew she was going to get to do something very special and share it with her classmates and her family! She was especially excited to get to ride the bus---but unfortunately, both Olivia and I were sick so we thought it best to drive ourselves down to the theatre.

We got there a few minutes before the class did and were one of the first in line. Because there were so many children from Rhema, they blocked the first section (lower Orchestra) just for us. Because we were the first in line for Rhema, we had FRONT ROW SEATS! It was amazing! We were right behind the pit...could see and hear everything...LEXIE WAS ON CLOUD NINE! As soon as the curtain went up and the lights came on and she saw everyone in the cast singing and dancing, she popped out of her seat and asked "can I go up there too?" She LOVED it! Throughout the ENTIRE production she kept saying "I should would like to do that!" And even though under the weather, Olivia enjoyed it too---we all did, even Russ!

Lexie picked out her 'fancy' clothes to wear for her special day out!

You can ZOO it!!!

It was a "nicer" day in the neighborhood---given the fact it was above 50 and it wasn't snowing---and since Lexie was feeling better, we decided to head out for some fun at the ZOO!!! We picked up Courtney for some extra fun and headed out!

Olivia was taking it all in---especially her snack! After seeing some of the animals eating, she thought it was a good idea too!
Looks like Lexie is about the size of a Newborn African elephant...at least height wise!
Olivia was loving the 'bebe L-fent"
Inside watching the penguins swim...she wasn't the biggest fan as they were making plenty of noise! Lexie was completely enamoured!
Lexie found a fish that was bigger than she...and once again, Olivia wasn't a fan! I think she may have pulled out a chunk of Courtney's hair by grabbing so tight in fear!
She finally decided to warm up a bit!
Next it was over to see the sting rays. Lexie wanted to touch it. Olivia wanted to admire from a safe distance.
It was HUGE!

Crawling under the sting ray exhibit, Lexie found a friendly face halfway through...

Courtney and Lexie pop up for a picture!

Olivia getting ready to brave the crawl under the stingray tank to catch up with Lexie and Courtney.

Lexie found a welcoming visitor at the zoo! This bear kept coming up to the glass enclosure---
then would duck back---and come back for more! I wish I would have gotten it on video!
Lexie holding still as the polar bear comes up for a kiss!
Off to the Kid's Kingdom play yard! Lexie made it all the way to the top---Olivia made it past the first segment, then decided that was enough! They both had tons of fun with Courtney on the slides!
Before we left to head back home, we were able to meet up with a few more 'animals'...Aunt Becky, Molly and Ford. As we were leaving the zoo--they were just getting there (unfortunately, since Lexie had been sick leading up to their trip, we weren't able visit quite like we had hoped, but enjoyed the time we were able to spend together!). We gathered for a quick lunch then we were off for naps! But not before attempting to get a few good pics!
I still can't get over how much Ford has grown!
Trying to get the girls to smile and look at the camera---forget it!

Home Imporvements---At Nini's House!

A while back, I told my mom I would help her remodel two of the bedrooms in her house. She decided to get the carpet ripped out, new hardwood floors installed, and new trim, as well as repaint and remove wallpaper. I can't tell you how amazing it looked once it was all done! She had the color choices narrowed down in each of the bedrooms based on the bed spreads she picked out so all we had to do was patch a few places on the walls, paint the ceilings and walls, then pick out all the fun accessories. I volunteered to make custom window treatments too---just to make it look that much cozier since she wasn't able to find exactly what she wanted.

The pictures really don't do the rooms justice--but you can take a peek anyways! Too bad I don't have before and afters!

The Beach Room
The wall color wasn't exactly what she had hoped for, but turned out to be a perfect compliment to the bed spread! It has a very calming feeling! I just LOVE this room and want to do something similar to the master bedroom in our place in Florida!
The fun accessories we picked out! LOVE those birds!
Adorable lamp and picture frames my mom found. I especially like the 'models' in the photos!

"Lexie's Room". My mom loves primitive, simple decor. The bedspread was a perfect match to an existing picture my mom had. The lamp shade, sheets and curtains all match. The headboard was the perfect compliment to the room--nice job mom!
I love the muted mustard like color on the walls! Simple and stylish!!!
Now, I just need to get cracking on the window treatments for her master bedroom!!!!

Long Time No See

It is hard to believe that we hadn't seen Nini since Christmas Day---sad but true! Between our schedules, and her 3 week trip to Florida we never found time to visit. Lexie was OVER THE MOON when I told her we were going to Nini's house for the weekend after she was done with school on Thursday! That was all she could talk about! What a great time we had! The weather was a bit harry---one day it was in the 50s and raining the next there was 5 inches of snow, followed by a beautiful sunny day in the 50s again! That didn't stop us from enjoying every single second!

Lexie concentrating on her new puzzle--a map of the United States. There were pieces for every state...but there was just an outline and not an actual place to put the state...the pieces had a tendency to move around a bunch, but after two or three times...she was able to do in "all by myself"!
Meanwhile, Olivia was providing entertainment for the rest of us! Hamming it up for Nini and Aunt Allie...as per usual!
Lexie proudly showing off her new puppy purse she got during our shopping trip...and a puppy dressed up as an Easter Bunny she found in the basement at Nini's.
So sweet and innocent---well, at least in the picture she is!
Lexie and Olivia enjoying story time on Nini's lap...
...oh, what a story it was!
Sisterly love?
Thanks again for a great weekend! We had loads of fun shopping! Lexie "loved getting all dressed up!" She literally tried on 25 outfits and never once complained! In fact, she asked if she could try on more! Olivia was a trooper through it all---thanks to her buddy Aunt Allie! I think the girls are both set for spring/summer now---just have to wait for the weather to follow suit!

One Stitch at a Time---Mission Accomplished!

As a follow up to the original post, I was finally able to get Lexie's Class Quilt finished!!! Mrs. Henderson gave me the final pieces to assemble the last bit of the border and I picked up some silky thread to tie the corners of the blocks. It really turned out cute---I may just have to give it my best shot to win this at the auction!

Pet Day!

Lexie always looks forward to school, but today she was exceptionally excited! She got to take along one of her favorite puppies to celebrate "Pet Day". I didn't know if we would ever get out of the house...how could she chose between all of her puppies? On any given day this one or that one is her favorite, but the lucky puppy of the day was.....

PINK DOG!
She promised to take good care of pink dog and show her around her school.
