As cute as can be~

Here are a few new pictures I have been meaning to post, but never got around to it since there wasn't a "story" to go along with them.

Reading time with Da-da

Lexie likes to share her food! She will even feed you if you ask her for a bite...it is too cute!

Typing away on Nini's keyboard

Brushing her teeth like a big girl...she LOVES it!

We've Been Working on the Basement

While it continues to be a labor of love, I am pleased to report we have cleared one hurdle in our do it yourself project! Drum Roll Please...We have officially hung all the drywall!!! Russ placed the final piece in the bathroom this evening! We even have the kodak moment to prove it!
As you can see, mudding is well under way, but we have a few more hours ahead of us before we can check that box off completely! Oddly enough, we are enjoying our project, but I for one can't wait for it to be over so we can just relax in the evenings!!!!

A day at the park was no day at the beach!

It seems like we have been spending a great deal of time either working on the basement or traveling so I thought it would be a good idea to do something to get out of the house for a bit. The weather was about as close to perfect as it could be, so I loaded up the truck and lathered Lexie with sunscreen and we were off to the park. It has been a while since we had visited so I wasn't sure what she would think of it. The second we entered the play area, she was like a kid in a candy store! She headed straight toward the big red swing which was already occupied, so we opted for the "big girl" swing instead. She couldn't get enough of it!! She laughed and laughed and laughed!
From the swing she decided it was time to play at the wheel, then the slide, over to the rope, a detour to pick up some mulch then back to the swings. It was rather tiring for me, but Lexie didn't seem to slow down until she found her way back to the entrance of the playground...she was having way too much fun! Since we had been out in the sun for a while and it was about time for lunch and a nap, we headed toward the car. We started walking toward the cement ramp and Lexie decided she would give running a try...yes, running...on cement. Before I knew it she tripped and face planted into the side walk. She instantly began to cry and a goose egg the size of a golf ball appeared! It made me sick to my stomach... literally! We raced home to put ice on it and called daddy! I think it was more painful for me than it was for her!!! It was her first big fall...but unfortunately, it probably won't be her last!!!

The picture doesn't do the boo-boo justice~

Weekend in Columbus

Lexie and I headed to Columbus for the second annual K-man Classic. The weather was perfect for the event and we were excited to spend some time with Anissa and the boys! Russ was working like crazy, but was able to make it out in time to play some golf, then headed right back to work! We even got to spend some time with Papaw. He also came up to play in the event! It was a fun weekend, but flew by so very fast!

Water Baby

Lexie leading the way into the pool...

Here is our little swimmer listening intently to the instructor with such joy!!!  She absolutely loves the water!

Practicing her "backstroke" with a little help from dad...look out Natalie Coughlin...here comes Lexie to break the world record!

The instructor had the kids sit or stand along the side of the wall and had the parents step back and encourage them to jump in...Russ was barely able to take half a step without Lexie lunging for some more fun in the water!

Here she is taking a moment to pose for the camera!  (Thanks Emily for such an adorable swim suit...she was the best dressed in the pool!!!!  We got sooo many compliments!!!)

Check out this video...under the water we go!!

Another week of swimming under her belt and she is loving every second of it...well maybe not when her dad dunked her underwater!!  Make your plans now to attend the 2020 Olympics...you just might be seeing this little swimmer competing! :)

Hot Fun in the Summer Time

Our trip to Houston couldn't have come at a better time...or could it?  With Eduoard threatening to dump inches of rain and produce gusting, blustering winds...I have to admit, I was a little anxious for our annual visit!  Lucky for us, it never upgraded to a hurricane...that, and we had Fun Uncle Mitch to protect us!!!  No, that is not the Gordon's Fisherman in the backyard...and NO, he isn't relieving himself!!!  Uncle Mitch suited up and braved the elements so the dogs could relieve themselves! (at least that is the story we are sworn to tell!!)
We were not going to let a little Tropical Storm ruin our fun, so with the rain coming down and drinks in hand, the family fun began!!!   Once Eduoard passed, the skies seemed to stay clear for the remainder of the week!  The men braved the heat and played golf, while the ladies enjoyed the cool confines of the movie theater and spa (I am still singing ABBA)!
We took Lexie to the "big" pool so Spencer and Marissa could show their little cousin how to do hand stands under the water.  She also needed to practice her swimming skills since she was missing her YMCA class this week!!  It was well worth it, as you can see!!

While Aunt Lisa and Uncle Mitch weren't able to join us for pool time (they had to be responsible and work) we made the best of the time we were able to spend with them in the evenings!!!  Lexie tried to steal as many kisses from Uncle Mitch as she could...and a few secrets on how to perfect jambalaya!!!

She sang with Aunt Lisa and played a fun game of dodge the kisses...looks like she wasn't able to escape the surprise attack from Nola!!!

Lexie celebrated a few milestones with the family!  Not only did she show off her new walking skills, she is now able to run thanks to the puppies chasing her, or being chased by her!  She turned 10 months old, ate her first popsicle (sugar-free of course) thanks to Uncle Michael, visited her first Boardwalk (Kemah) and rode her first ride with her daddy by her side (she also ooooohhhhed and ahhhhed watching her big cousins get tossed upside down.) and she ate meat...and lots of it (thanks to Aunt Debbie encouraging mommy)!

From riding in Debbie's new van, stuffing our faces with the cuisine de jour, drinking like fish, watching the Olympics, sweating in the sweltering heat, playing volleyball in the side yard, or just cracking jokes at anyone's expense...we really enjoyed the company and every minute of our trip to Houston!  Nothing beats time with the family!!! (Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that we were even able to visit with Eric...Rudolph made the drive from San Antonio for the weekend...good seeing you!!!)

Now it is back to work, back to exercising, no more junk food, and time to get busy on the basement!  We only have a couple of months before we will all be together again for Thanksgiving!  It will be here before you know it!  We can't wait!!!!

LIfe on the Farm

This weekend was the 1st Annual City Farm days at Janoski's Farm.  It was a family friendly event complete with a petting zoo, hay rides, straw jumping, and produce picking, just to name a few.  The weather couldn't have been nicer, so we headed down the road to the farm to partake in all the fun activities. The first stop was the petting zoo.  Lexie was a bit unsure, but after a few seconds, was all over the place.  She was so intrigued by the live animals and was back and forth between the baby sheep and calfs.  Once I was able to get her to leave the petting zoo we headed over to see the township's new fire truck.  It was loaded with big kids crawling all over the seats so she made herself cozy on the grass.  She also made friends with a local police officer who couldn't stop commenting on how cute she was with all that red hair.  : )

The line for the hay ride out to the fields was getting longer and longer so we decided to wait until pumpkin pickin' time.  It was getting to be nap time for some one (me) so we headed back to the car after picking up a few refreshments.  On the way back, we detoured to the petting zoo so Lexie could say goodbye to her new friends.  They instantly came up to the fence and licked her little fingers!  We had such a great time...and can't wait to go back!
